theoretical orientation
in cross-cultural psychology, three main theoretical orientations can be identified;1. absolutism
2. universalism
3.relativism
cultural absolutism:
cultural absolutism assumes that in all cultures the majority of observable psychological characteristics like personality traits or cognitive abilities are the same
absolutism--------------majority of observable psychological characteristics are the same.
Cultural Relativism
assumes that culture determines almost all human behavior. it compares people from a different cultural background in term of their position on psychological variables is almost impossible from this position.

Cultural Universalism:-
" basis psychological process is universal for all people"
it is a kind of "middle point" or "middle option" and assumes that the basic psychological process are universal for all people
culture will also influence the development and expression of psychological characteristics thought.
Universalism=============> basic psychological processes are universal.
